Linear Perspective: Union Square

Hello, dears.
Today, I’d like to take you all on a walk. But since I can’t, I’ll tell you where to go and what to do when you get there. New York is filled with noise, diversity, and lots of treasures. And no matter where you go, you can count on an unforgettable experience (and that even applies to our fair residents). So, where can you go to experience a little of everything? Union Square, Manhattan.
Now you’re probably googling Union Square if you don’t already know what it is. And you’ve probably learned that it’s most certainly not a square. Connecting busy streets such as Broadway and 14th, Union Square is located in a very unique and intriguing intersection. So let’s start with the journey to Union Square. On your way to the busy intersection, you will pass stores and businesses that have been in existence for years and some that are just starting up. But the combination of the new and old is the perfect escort to the Union Square Park.
Inside the park, you will find benches to have your lunch or a midday rest from the scorching Summer sun. You’ll also find some beautiful statues (even if they are inhabited by pigeons), peaceful walkways, and a jungle-gym for the kiddies. But that’s not what makes Union Square even half as amazing as it is. Then what does? All of the stands and tables that are surrounding the park. At each stand, you’re bound to find hidden treasures; from pins and bracelets, to organic ingredients to make tonight’s dinner. You can also find fresh flowers, photographs, artwork, and tees for yourself or a friend. There are also promotional stands from time to time. For instance, today BagsForThePeople.org, a non-profit organization, had set up a stand; solar-powered sewing and handing out NON-PLASTIC tote bags. [While the bags are FREE and great for carrying your purchases, donations are also accepted.] So while you’re munching on free samples, be sure to walk around and give each stand at least a glance. But trust me, with all of the bargains and deals the stands offer, you won’t want to walk away empty handed.

Our First Brush Stroke On The Blank Canvas..

For our first post, we all decided to introduce ourselves to the interweb world. So, here's a few essential and non-essential details about our staff.

Jamii:

“She named her hamster, Gerbil.”
My name is Ollie but they call me James, Jamii or Wiener.
I am an 18 year old Aries and planning to attend City College of New York, majoring in Sociology.
My favorite animal is the Giant Panda of China. (I have a lot of panda gear)
In the blog, I’m in charge of basically overseeing the magazine’s construction, along with the other writers and working on the finance section.
I’m the hapless co-founder of Blank Canvas. It’s been a small dream of mine to start a teen magazine/blog that dealt with issues that you wouldn’t normally find in regular teen magazines.
Nothing is too bizarre to write about; after all, someone, somewhere, is wondering the same thing.
With that goal in mind, my talented group of friends decided to support me and try to make this dream a reality.
Working together with them I hope to foster a community where teens can have fun and maybe learn something?
The goal of Blank Canvas is simple; a place where teens of all nationalities and cultures can come together and talk.
Blank Canvas really is what you make it, so feel free to contribute and watch it grow.

Emojene:
Hello, all. I'd like to tell you my name, but I'm currently in the WPP.
So, my alias for today is Emojene.
I am eighteen, but look much younger than I really am..
I'm a vegetarian by choice.
I am very amused by random, peculiar, and bizarre projects, ideas, and items.
I like my vampires with gore NOT glitter.
I'm a writer, artist, and other professions and titles.
On Halloween, I like to cross dress.. but I revert back to a chickadee before midnight.
I have a fraternal/dizygotic twin named Seth.
I am here because I love my friend, Jamii, and I love to write. So, when asked to combine the two I, of course, accepted.
I hope to provide a little insight to our readers, although I’m probably going to be destroying your sanity.. [C’mon, let’s be honest.]
Well, with that said, I shall now take my quill pen and tackle this Blank Canvas, as I hope you will all choose to do so.

Ashley:
Hi, I'm Ashley and I'm 18 years old.
Born into a Haitian-American family, I grew up in Queens, New York.
I'm currently attending John Jay College, majoring in criminology.

Vickie:
Hola! I am Vickie, the girl you wish you knew. My goal in life is to make the world a better place. I’ve learned over the 17 years of my life that things don’t come easy to those who work hard for it. I was told that I wouldn’t make it to where I’m at today; ready to start college. Things change for those that want to better themselves and prove those that put them down, wrong.
My friends and I just want to inform those in the same position as us, that they’re not alone. My thing is always be yourself…. You’re better of living life that way.

Shana:
(In-)Darkness, sweetness, heartless, demoness, lover, killer, lost, anguish, better, evil, alone, yours, timeless, harmless, beast, kiss, violent, beautiful, massacre, flame, void, burn, silence, death, laugh, kill, smile, pain, red, black, silence.(-sane)
Insanity rules us all.
